Character Visits for Toddler Parties​

Character visits are a warm and friendly option for toddler birthday parties. Seeing a favourite character in person can feel exciting — like meeting someone from television.

Because toddlers have only seen characters on screen, it’s helpful to prepare them for a life-sized visit. Costume characters are adult-sized and may look larger than children expect.

Here are simple ways to help toddlers feel comfortable:
  • Let children know a special character is coming to the party
  • Show them a photo beforehand
  • Explain that the character will be tall — like an adult
When the character arrives:
  • Allow children to approach at their own pace
  • Some will hug immediately; others may observe first
  • Encourage adults to interact — modeling comfort helps
  • Never force a child to approach
Most toddlers warm up quickly once they see others enjoying the interaction.
